Chief Winemaker - Two Hands Wines
Two Hands Wines is one of the most exciting winery crushing an incredible variety of grapes from highly acclaimed Shiraz and Cabernet trough to Riesling, Chardonnay or Grenache, making wines from 6 different regions. Celebrating our 20th anniversary this year and always looking at improving the quality of our production, we are seeking a highly-experienced Chief Winemaker to lead and develop our winemaking team. This is an exciting senior leadership role that offers the opportunity to apply your winemaking skills alongside your people management and winery operations capabilities. The objective of the Chief Winemaker’s role is to manage all aspects of the production and development of Two Hands range of wines and to lead the winery in terms of innovation and technical mastery. This objective is pursued with respect to our reputation, traditional methods and in alignment with our ISO 9001 certification and WHS standard. Based in the Barossa Valley, the Chief Winemaker reports to the General Manager with a direct line of communication to the Proprietor and founder. Key Responsibilities: 1. Production and leadership: Primary responsibility of the Chief Winemaker is to plan, organise and control all winery operations through effective decision-making and leadership. 2. People: The Chief Winemaker manages and directs the cellar staff including a winemaker, a permanent cellar hand and annual vintage staff, setting and tracking the goals and objectives for the cellar team, encouraging creativity and innovation. 3. Plant: It is part of the role to ensure plant and equipment and winery infrastructure is always maintained in accordance with THW requirements. 4. Budget planning and review: The Chief Winemaker develops the annual operating and capital budget for the winemaking department and reviews in accordance with THW expectations. 5. Product development: The Chief Winemaker is responsible for maintaining and improving the wine styles as well as the development of new and/or innovative wine styles and brand strategy. 6. Product/Brand Support: It is expected that the Chief Winemaker is available for promotional activities domestically and abroad to support and promote the Two Hands Wines brand. 7. Relationships: The Chief Winemaker is a member of our Senior Managers Group (with our Head Viticulturist, Operation Manager, CFO, General Manager and Managing Director).The role requires productive working relationships with relevant departments. Our Chief Winemaker also attends Board Meeting and Strategic Meeting as required. 8. Administrative: The role requires that all record keeping in relation to the wine production and staff management is maintained. This includes, but is not limited to all LIP and legal production requirements, all WHS requirements and other company policies and operating procedures as well as the management of ISO 9001 certification for the winemaking department

You will work in a premium, modern and friendly work environment that provides good training, skills development and exceptional commitment to health, safety & wellbeing principles. Viticulturist - Philip Shaw Wines
We have an opportunity for a motivated viticulturalist to join our team at Philip Shaw Wines based in Orange NSW. We are driven to produce wine of the highest quality; to do this, we are wanting to change our model from a vineyard manager with a consulting viticulturist to a viticulturist and vineyard manager. Philip Shaw Wines is managed by brothers Daniel and Damian Shaw. Our estate vineyard Koomooloo is 47ha and was planted in 1989 with an additional 30 ha of vineyard leased or managed. On volcanic origin situated between 850 and 900m, the site is dedicated to producing premium grapes for our Number series wines. We have a diverse clonal range in Chardonnay, Shiraz and merlot with a total of 68 sub blocks. We are on a continual improvement program, whether it is improving the clonal selection or evolving to the most sustainable model possible. It would be great to find someone that shares our passion for wine and be part of a team that continually wants to challenge convention and our perception of quality. The vineyard is farmed sustainably but we are wishing to move towards organics and biodynamics to challenge the vineyards potential. Orange’s reputation as a wine region and tourism destination continues to grow from year to year. It is widely regarded as the top cool climate region in NSW and among the best in Australia. Orange is characterised by beautiful tree-lined streets, charming houses dating to the early twentieth century, and outstanding public parks. It is a substantial and sophisticated rural service centre which lies at the heart of some of New South Wales' richest and most bountiful agricultural land. The Orange wine industry began to develop in the early 1980s and now has over 1500ha of vineyard. The region is a major producer of a range of regional foods within a spectacular rural landscape and is an exciting destination for wine and food tourism.
